Burial bottles

Burial bottles

Quick Overview

Six small green vials in their original cardboard box. These vials were to be buried along with GI's who were killed. The bottles were used to store Graves Registration form No. 1 or any piece of paper with identifying information about the soldier. The bottles in this box are marked on the bottom with the diamond-oval-I logo of the Owens-Illinois Glass Company with the numbers 3, 2 and 3. The 3 to the right of the makers logo dates the vial to 1943. This is rare as most of these vials found today are from 1945. This box comes from a small stock that was discovered in Normandy.
