Map of Ryes (east side of Omaha Beach)

Map of Ryes (east side of Omaha Beach)

Quick Overview

Second Edition, April 1944 dated. Scale 1:25.000. This 'large scale' map (small area with much detail) measures about 60.5 x 49.5 centimeters and is typical for combat use. The area is to the east side of Omaha Beach and includes the cliffs (were many GI's sheltered), Le Grand Hameau, Cabourg and Ste Honorine des Pertes. On the far right side of the map is Arromanches were one of the artificial harbors was built. Of special interest are the pencil scribbles and dots in blue pencil. Worth a research! This map was recently found along with similar scale 1944 dated maps on a flea market in Normandy. It has stains and holes but was definitely used. The scale and grid coordinates make it excellent for research. Despite the condition it will look great framed.
